The Rooftop Studios have been used as a rehearsal space since 1995, receiving a Theatre License in 1998. Since then the Studios have played host to many performances by Stagecraft and, until autumn 2007 by GEMS Youth Theatre Company, while remaining in constant use for a wide range of performing arts and recreational dance classes.

In autumn 2007 a branch of London's PSSA opened at the studio, bringing with it a major refurbishment.
